Bird, Nest, Nature: Four-Part Workshop Series

Join us for a four-part, virtual, interactive art workshop series anchored by Bedford Gallery's current exhibition Bird, Nest, Nature! Register here by 9/15 at 11:30 pm. This $95 workshop bundle includes: 

-Sept 17, 10 am - 10:45 am, Virtual Tour of Bedford Gallery
-Sept 22, 10 am - 12 pm, Watercolor & Gouache Virtual Art Workshop Part 1
-Sept 24, 10 am - 12 pm, Watercolor & Gouache Virtual Art Workshop Part 2
-Sept 29, 10 am - 11 am, (optional) in-person walking tour to explore the birds of Boundary Oak. 

Virtual Tour of Bedford Gallery's exhibition Bird, Nest, Nature 
Sept 17, 10 am - 10:45 am

Start off your birding adventure with a virtual tour of Bedford Gallery’s Bird, Nest, Nature exhibition led by trained docents! Explore the artists and artworks while learning about the wide range of media and diverse representations of birds in this nature-based show. Stay tuned after the tour for a live Q+A with gallery staff.

Virtual Art Workshops
Sept 22 and Sept 24, 10 am - 12 pm

Take a Zoom art class with artist Elizabeth Selna who will teach students how to create a Bird, Nest, Nature watercolor & gouache painting. Learn the basics of working with watercolor, such as using a palette and painting techniques. Explore basic composition working from photographs and online resources. One-on-one guidance and support will be available from the instructor as needed during studio time. Workshop fee includes: materials that will be delivered to your home.

Boundary Oak Bird Walk Tour (optional)
Sept 29, 10 am - 11 am:

See the glorious birds that call Boundary Oak their home in this in-person, COVID safe walking tour. This tour will be guided by Tim Roberts, a Boundary Oak staff member and member of the Audubon Society. Boundary Oak is a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary and also relocation center for raptors (birds of prey who are found at SFO or Oakland airport and need to be relocated for safety). The tour will also showcase the history and development of the Bee Blocks, Barn Owl Boxes and Pond Shoreline Naturalization projects that are in effect at Boundary Oak. The entire walk will be about 1 mile and easy paced and flat.  

 
Workshop Fee Includes: materials list & bottle of wine that will be delivered to your home prior to the start of your class. Walnut Creek residents only, ages 21+. Need registration assistance? Call 925-943-5858.
