Swan Lake
Music: Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Choreography: Based on Marius Petipa
Featuring selections from Swan Lake including the Black Swan Pas de Deux, White Swan Pas de Deux, Coda and Variations. Originally choreographed by Marius Petipa in 1895, this classic ballet will be staged for the full company. The poetry of this timeless ballet and majestic score by Tchaikovsky will showcase the Diablo Ballet dancer’s stamina and training.

Tarantella
Music: Grand Tarantelle for Piano and Orchestra, Op. 67 by Louis Moreau Gottschalk/Hershy Kay
Choreography: George Balanchine © The George Balanchine Trust
Created in 1964 for New York City Ballet principal dancers Patricia McBride and Edward Villella, Balanchine’s Tarantella is an explosive pas de Deux which showcases the ways in which Balanchine expanded the traditional vocabulary of classical dance. The music is based on the Grande Tarantelle of the New Orleans pianist-composer Louis Gottschalk and orchestrated by Hershy Kay.

Sur le Fil
Music: Michael Wall, Yann Tiersen, Moondog
Choreography: Penny Saunders
A command performance of Penny Saunders’ Sur le Fil which premiered with Tulsa Ballet 2 in 2018.  The ballet was inspired by Saunders’ thoughts around the mischievousness nature of life, and the common reality we share of having personal secrets that we would prefer kept in the dark.

Echoes Through Time
Music: TBD
Choreography: Michael Wells & Derion Loman
Company Dancer and choreographer Michael Wells and Derion Loman who was featured on “So You Think You Can Dance” and “World of Dance” create their second world premiere together for Diablo Ballet. This new work by longtime friends and collaborators is a journey through various perspectives. It questions the concept of time being linear as it relates to perspective and connection to other beings. How we perceive movements and the intentions behind them, and how the world then perceives us.

Running Time: approx. 1 hour 40 minutes, with one intermission
