Spooktacular Fun Awaits at Walnut Creek Trunk or Treat!

Get ready for a spine-tinglingly good time at Civic Park in Walnut Creek! Walnut Creek Arts + Rec proudly presents our 5th annual Trunk or Treat event on October 25, 2024, from 2pm to 6pm. Bring the whole family and stroll through our "trick-or-treat" lane, where you'll encounter captivating booths brimming with activities, games, and candy galore. From bounce houses to face-painting, balloon twisters to food trucks, there's something to delight every ghost and ghoul. Best of all, this magical event is free for the community to enjoy!

2-3 pm Join us for a Trunk or Treat experience designed with all sensory needs in mind! From 2-3 p.m., our sensory-friendly Trunk or Treat hour offers a welcoming, inclusive environment for everyone to enjoy Halloween fun without the usual sensory overload.

2-5 pm Celebrate the Mexican holiday, Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) at Trunk or Treat! Families are invited to learn more about the holiday and honor their family members with three craft stations. From 2 pm to 5 pm on Friday, Oct. 25, guests can create drawings of loved ones at the gazebo in Civic Park, decorate paper sugar skulls (calaveras) with watercolor spray, and make tissue paper flowers.

3-6 pm The park will come alive with music, movement, and bounce houses galore! Trick-or-treat before experiencing activities, booths, giveaways, and SO MUCH more throughout Civic Park. Missed the sensory-friendly hour? Fear not, the Whispering Witches Room invites you in for sensory-friendly experiences and a haven from the busy day (opens at 2 pm)!

More Information about the 2-3 pm Sensory-Friendly Trunk or Treat Hour:

• Calm Atmosphere: No music, soft lighting, and reduced number of inflatables to create a soothing environment.
• Treats and Surprises: Allergy-friendly and non-food treats will be available for all guests, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.
• Tactile Sensations: Visit the Whispering Witches Room for touch-friendly decorations and activities, with textures that are calming and engaging.
• Quiet Spaces: Designated quiet zones are available in the Whispering Witches Room for those who need a break from the festivities.
• Calming Tools: For those that need extra support with regulation during the event, calming tools will be available for checkout with Specialized Recreation staff in the Whispering Witches Room.

Not able to make it during the sensory-friendly hour? The Whispering Witches Room will be available for our trick-or-treaters with sensory needs for the duration of the entire event. Our event aims to provide a joyful, stress-free Halloween celebration where everyone can feel comfortable and included. Come join the fun in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere!
