Lisa Franklin: My Adventures in Starting Up a Pet Photography Business

Presented by the Community Arts Photography Forum

Lisa Franklin’s interest in photography began when she was a child during yearly visits to her Uncle Leo’s house in Lompoc, California, where he had a darkroom in his garage. He passed on his passion to her along with the gift of a Canon 35mm SLR. Lisa took up photography in earnest in 2008, when she began taking classes through Civic Arts Education and Acalanes Adult Education Center and joined the Photography Forum. Lisa enjoys challenging herself by exploring various genres of photography, including landscape, macro, street, still life, headshots, and most recently pet photography. A lifelong animal lover and companion to cats, she decided a few years ago that it would be fun to train her lens on dogs and a few cooperative felines. Along the way, she has learned as much about herself as she has about what makes for a good pet photo. Lisa shoots pets with a Canon 70D and Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 lens.
